A senior environmental regulatory professional specializing in bird and bat ecology, and with over 10 years experience in the Alberta renewable energy sector. The primary focus of Mike’s experience to date has been providing consulting ecological and EA services to most of Alberta’s major renewable energy developers. Mike has successfully managed the environmental permitting and compliance component of Canada’s largest wind power fleet, which generates more than 1,300 MW. His proven ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively communicate complex technical information is matched by his ability to interpret regulatory requirements and prepare applications to meet the requirements of Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) Rule 007. Mike is also experienced in client, project, and personnel management with the ability to liaise with a wide audience and lead multi-disciplinary teams in presenting EA findings to the public. To date, he has been involved in more than 60 wind facility projects across North America from project assessment and permitting through to project construction, operation, and maintenance.
